Stefan Zeniuk's GATO LOCO [usa]

“A concentrate of fun and jazz, an irresistible blend just waiting to catch fire onstage.” – Nicolas Ragoneau, musiques impure

“Intense latin brass reveals the unsuspected connections between the origins of mambo and the abstraction of free jazz, while a battalion of percussion and lascivious guitars shakes the audience into a betwitching frenzy.” – Arte Live

“This music does make me feel great and want to dance and sway and groove. They have done an amazing job of writing, shaping and dir3ecting this music. It is rare to hear music that makes you want to dance and whose arrangements are also a marvel of invention.” – Bruce Gallanther, Downtown Music Gallery

“I loved it!” – Laurie Anderson (email)

The 10-piece “Psycho-Mambo” group GATO LOCO was born from the streets of New York City. They are exotic and foreign, yet simultaneously urban and familiar. Their live show delivers an instant party filled with celebration and joy; like a decadent Latin mambo ballroom thrown in the midst of a 21st century rock show. This is BIG music. Formed in 2006 by NYC native Stefan Zeniuk, the group takes its cues from scratchy pre-war Cuban records and vintage Betty Boop cartoons, while freely incorporating a modern schizoid mentality. Incorporating equal parts Latin, rock, and jazz; Gato Loco is not genre music. It is tightly written, thrilling and confusing, killing boredom with thought, with passion, with power. Is it mysterious? Yes! Ambiguous? No.

GATO LOCO released its latest self-titled album on the prestigious Winter & Winter Records in 2011. This album chronicles an epic live outdoor show on the steps of a wine chateau in Bordeaux, France during the summer of 2010. Their live shows are internationally legendary; breathing fire and energy into any venue.
